The Sam Hurst Memorial Game
Sunday March 23, 2014
Cockburn Ice Arena and the Hawks Ice Hockey Club invite you to join us for an exciting ice hockey game to remember Sam and raise funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Sam Hurst was a Hawks member and a much loved Cockburn Ice Arena employee and DJ, who was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in 2008. A game to raise funds for Sam to go to Canada
was organised within four weeks of learning of
Thanks to the rink, the club, the generous public and the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Sam and his family were on their
way within weeks and ‘Sam’s Wish’ Inaugural Game was held when Sam returned from Canada in March 2009.
Sam sadly lost his battle in 2009 at the young age of 17. He crammed so much into his short life, and was an inspiration to all that met him. He was never still and always on the go.
We invite you to join us for a celebration of Sam's life and an awesome hockey game on Sunday March 23.
In 2013, The Sam Hurst Memorial Game was a huge success, with $7274.05 raised for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. We would love to raise more this year.
We ask you to dig deep and help the Make-a-Wish foundation to make more wishes come true. Cash donations, prize donations for raffles and auctions on the night, even putting a few coins in the Make-a-Wish donation tins - it all makes a difference.
We would love to see you there!
