Perth's Biggest and Best Ice Skating Rink

We run various ice hockey programs throughout the year, and suitability is dependant on age and skating ability. If you are unsure of where you belong, please speak to one of our friendy receptionists.

Little Tackers is a new program developed for under 8s, and aims to introduce the youngsters to ice hockey by developing the FUNdamentals of the game. Elements are taught in a fun way with the introduction of game related exercises that keep the little ones entertained, while at the same time developing their skills!

FUNdamentals are taught on Monday (pending enrolment numbers), Wednesday and Saturday afternoons (choose one), and Small Area Games will be run on Sunday mornings.

Skill Requirements:

Able to skate unassisted without holding onto the barrier.

Gear Requirements:

Skates, stick, shin guards, helmet, shoulders, elbows, pants, mouth guard, gloves, neck guard and cup.

Atoms is our program for under 11s, and is made up of 3 components.

Skate the Game: This is the starting point for anyone who is brand new to ice hockey and comprises of six levels. It focuses on skating techniques that form the foundation of any good ice hockey player.

Sunday Small Area Games: Designed to put the skating to practise in a real game environment. This is available to any player who has passed Skate 2.

Wednesday skills sessions: Run in conjunction with the Hawks Ice Hockey Club, and aimed at club style training.This is available to any player who has passed Skate 2.

Skill Requirements:

Skate the Game: Suitable for beginners.
Sunday Small Area Games and Wednesday Skills Sessions: If you have passed Skate 2, you are eligible to enrol in these programs, but must also be enrolled in Skate the Game until completion.

Gear Requirements:

Skate the Game: Skates, stick, shin guards, helmet.
Sunday Small Area Games and Wednesday Skills Sessions: full gear required.

Ice Hockey programs for players aged 12+ are structured incrementally, with 3 major programs aimed at progressing the player to be a team ready hockey machine!

Skate the Game: aimed at beginners, this 6 level program focuses on skating skills, the foundation of any good hockey player.

Play the Game: Following on from Skate the Game, this program introduces passing, shooting and puck handling, as well as small area games.

The Real Game: Capped at 20 players, this program bridges the gap between skills and game play. Open to Play the Game 2 participants. For players aged 15+.

Skill Requirements:

Skate the Game: Suitable for beginners.
Play the Game: Completion of Skate the Game.
The Real Game: Player must be 15+ and currently in Play the Game 2.

Gear Requirements:

Skate the Game: Skates, stick, shin guards, helmet.
Play the Game and The Real Game: full gear required.

This clinic will be teaching appropriate Checking skills to players of all levels so that they can better understand and carry out the proper techniques required in the game of hockey based on the division played.

It is very important to start learning these skill from the age of 11 upwards.

The skills will follow the Checking Skills Development pyramid:
1. Skating and Agility 2. Angling and Positioning 3. Stick Checks 4. Body Contact
5. Body Checks (age appropriate).

Skill Requirements:

This program is for club level players.

Gear Requirements:

Full gear is required.

* Limited hockey sticks, shin guards and helmets are available for loan on a per session basis. Skaters are encouraged to have their own equipment.
