July Figure Skating Evening Camp Sessions

Monday – Power and Jump Class
Wednesday – Power and Spins Class
Sunday – Turns and Choreo Movements Class

$70 per session or $185 for all three sessions

Eligibility:

  • Group 1 – 6.30 – 8pm
    Adult Learn To Skate (Footwork 1 and above), Adult Bronze, Preliminary Levels
  • Group 2 – 8.15 – 9.45pm
    Adult Silver to Elite, Elementary, Basic Novice, Intermediate Novice, Intermediate, Advanced Novice, Junior and Senior

Description

Each class will begin with challenging power skating exercises to warm you up and improve your balance, fluidity, accuracy and speed.

Monday’s class will concentrate on Jumps and exercises to improve your technique from preparation to landing.
Wednesday’s spin class will have your sits lower, camels higher and rotations faster! Work on your flys and your change of foot to increase your spin confidence.
Sunday’s class is all about improving your turns and increasing your choreo/skating movement repertoire. With Choreo Sequences being brought in by more levels by the ISU, you can’t afford to miss this class!

Coaches

Jaana Viiri

Jaana was born in Espoo, Finland and began skating at the age of 3. She skated competitively representing Finland.

Jaana worked side by side with Olympic coach Virpi Horttana for over ten years and counts herself fortunate to have been involved in the skating careers of many successful skaters from Finnish National titles to a European Champion.

Jaana has a deep understanding of the development of the skaters and the skills progression from grass roots to Senior level.

Taylor Thomas

Taylor was born and raised in Chicago, USA and began skating at the age of 3. She quickly fell in love with the sport and began competing.

Taylor was a 2x Upper Great Lakes Regional Champion, 3x Midwestern Sectional Competitor (Novice and Senior Level), 5th Place at Junior Nationals (Juvenile Level), Young International Competitor, and 2x US Collegiate Figure Skating Championships competitor.

Taylor received a full scholarship to Robert Morris University in Chicago, IL where she was part of the Figure Skating Team; competing at the U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships in Sun Valley Idaho.

In her 18 years of competitive skating, Taylor trained under many Olympic level coaches and choreographers including Alexander Ouriashev, Denise Myers, Susie Wynne, Scott Brown, Oleg Epstein, and Rob Peal.

She spent the 2005-2006 season training at the Toyota Sport Centre under coaches Frank Carroll and Ken Congemi with her 2005/2006 season programs designed by renowned choreographer, Lori Nichol.

Taylor also trained under Prima Ballerina, Sherry Moray at The Academy of Dance Arts both on and off the ice and was a frequent participant at choreography workshops with USFS Hall of Fame member, Ricky Harris.
