$150 per day or $399 for all three days

Eligibility:

  • Skaters who have passed the Learn to Skate Advanced level and up. View levels here.
  • Skaters who have completed Learn to Skate (or Aussie Skate).
  • Ages 6-17 years

Description

An intensive one full day workshop for skaters to increase balance, speed, power, fluidity on the ice.

Daily schedule
7.45am – Drop off
8.00am – Warm-up (Wednesday Trampoline Session)
9.15am – Power session 1 on ice
10.45am – Morning tea
11.00am – Off-ice session Jumps
12.15pm – Off-ice session Spins (bring your spinner if you have one), Stretching
12.45pm – Lunch
1.15pm – Power session 2 on ice
2.15pm – Power session 3 on ice
3.15pm – Pick up

Coaches

Jaana Viiri

Jaana was born in Espoo, Finland and began skating at the age of 3. She skated competitively representing Finland.

Jaana worked side by side with Olympic coach Virpi Horttana for over ten years and counts herself fortunate to have been involved in the skating careers of many successful skaters from Finnish National titles to a European Champion.

Jaana has a deep understanding of the development of the skaters and the skills progression from grass roots to Senior level.

Taylor Thomas

Taylor was born and raised in Chicago, USA and began skating at the age of 3. She quickly fell in love with the sport and began competing.

Taylor was a 2x Upper Great Lakes Regional Champion, 3x Midwestern Sectional Competitor (Novice and Senior Level), 5th Place at Junior Nationals (Juvenile Level), Young International Competitor, and 2x US Collegiate Figure Skating Championships competitor.

Taylor received a full scholarship to Robert Morris University in Chicago, IL where she was part of the Figure Skating Team; competing at the U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships in Sun Valley Idaho.

In her 18 years of competitive skating, Taylor trained under many Olympic level coaches and choreographers including Alexander Ouriashev, Denise Myers, Susie Wynne, Scott Brown, Oleg Epstein, and Rob Peal.

She spent the 2005-2006 season training at the Toyota Sport Centre under coaches Frank Carroll and Ken Congemi with her 2005/2006 season programs designed by renowned choreographer, Lori Nichol.

Taylor also trained under Prima Ballerina, Sherry Moray at The Academy of Dance Arts both on and off the ice and was a frequent participant at choreography workshops with USFS Hall of Fame member, Ricky Harris.

Abbey Williams

Abbey was only 18 months old when she first stepped on the ice at Cockburn Ice Arena, beginning her life-long skating journey, coached by Evgueni and Maria Borounov. Abbey comes from a family rich in talent for ice sports. Her older brother, Ben played Ice Hockey for WA, but Abbey’s passion was figure skating.

She has been a competitive figure skater for over a decade and is currently competing in the Senior Women’s division. Abbey’s coaching career began in 2022 and quickly became one of our most popular Learn to Skate instructors.

Children will be supervised from arrival time at 7.45am to pick up time at 3.15pm

What to bring

  • Water bottle
  • Tissues
  • Gloves
  • Skate Guards
  • Skating & Work out clothes (Leggings, leotard, t-shirt etc.) Please do not wear baggy clothes as they do not allow the coaches or ballet instructor to correct your line and extension.
  • Athletic footwear for the warm up session
  • A piece of fruit or a healthy snacks for a quick bite between the on ice session and the ballet class
  • Lunch

In the event of a participant being unable to attend due to COVID-19, credits or refunds will be applied.
