Solid Shooting Holiday Camp
16 – 19 January 2023
8.30 am – 3.30 pm* (Monday to Thursday) for Group 1 & 2
7.30 pm – 9.00 pm (Monday, Tuesday) for Group 3
Eligibility:
- Cockburn Ice Arena Ice Hockey Academy players in ‘Play the Game’ or above.
- Players and goalies at the club level. All club players/goalies are welcome.
- Division 5 or above adults. (min skills required are proficient in backward skating, hockey stops and use of inside edges). Enrolment in Group 3 only.
Contact hockey@cockburnicearena.com.au to arrange an assessment/feedback if you are unaware of your level or if you believe you will progress to the minimum level during Term 4 academy classes.
Participants will be split in groups according to age:
- Group 1: 6-12 years (day-time)*
- Group 2: 13-17 years (day-time)*
- Group 3: 15 years to Adult (night-time)
Group 1 & 2 Price player: $349
Group 1 & 2 Price goalie: $249
Group 3 Price player: $85
Group 3 Price goalie: $50
Description
Improve your shooting technique at our specialised Ice Hockey Summer Camp. You will learn how to increase power to your shot during dedicated shooting sessions. Goalies will concentrate on blocking those new powerful shots!
You will also take part in continuous 3-3 cross-ice games (with our cross-ice barriers) so you can try out your new skills during a fast-paced game situation. Group 1 and 2 players/goalies will have a dry land session each day to build fitness and strength.
We will be working:
- on your grip and power hand position
- quick release and upper body posture
- using peripheral vision / awareness of players
- screens
- backhand shots
- quick decision making
- communication

Matti Luoma, Vesa Matara & Charlie Smart (Goalie coach)
Supervision
- Children in Group 1 and 2 will be supervised from arrival time at 8.30am to pick up time at 3.30pm
What to bring
- Full ice hockey gear (shorts, pads, chest plate, gloves, neck guard, helmet and mouth guard).
- A packed lunch and fruit/veg for your snack
- Dryland clothes and shoes (Group 1 and 2)
- A towel
- Water bottle

In the event of a participant being unable to attend due to COVID-19, credits or refunds will be applied.
