HOUSE LEAGUE ICE HOCKEY

Play Ice Hockey in the Cockburn Ice Arena House League

House League ice hockey is a friendly in-house competition run by Cockburn Ice Arena and is open to all Division 4 players, as well as anyone aged 16+ who has passed Play the Game 1 in the Cockburn Ice Hockey Academy.

2021 House League

House League is open for anyone in Play the Game 2 & Division 3. Unfortunately FIFO & Division 2 players will not be accepted into this season of House League.

This season is capped at 4 teams which equates to: 56 players and 4 goalies.

How to start playing ice hockey

1. Learn to ice skate with confidence

If you are brand new to the world of ice sports, learning to skate is the first step. In order to play ice hockey, you will need to be able to stop, start and turn with ease. Usually one term of our Learn to Skate program will get you ready for the next step.

2. Join the Cockburn Ice Hockey Academy

Learn to play ice hockey over four comprehensive units:

Ice Hockey: Basics
Ice Hockey: Skating With Speed
Play the Game 1
Play the Game 2

3. Sign up for House League Ice Hockey

House League hockey runs for most of the year, and is the best way to get games under your belt. It is available to join once you are at Play the Game 2 of our Ice Hockey Academy.

4. Join the Hawks Ice Hockey Club

If you have been advancing through the Ice Hockey Academy, your name will be put forward to the Hawks Ice Hockey Club, and you may be invited to attend tryouts or training.

House League

Term 3: July 22 – September 23

This season is capped at 6 teams:

78 players
6 goalies

REQUIREMENTS

To be able to participate in CIA’s House League, you need to meet the following requirements:

Be aged 16 or over.
Have passed the hockey stops element in PTG1. This for player safety and is non-negotiable. If you are unable to hockey stop, your enrolment will be refunded.

Plus one of the following:

Have completed PTG 1 & be enrolled in the current term of Ice Hockey Academy, working towards completing PTG 2
Highest level of recently competing in Div 4 ice hockey team

WHAT’S INCLUDED

9 weeks of games + finals on September (10 games total)
2-Man officiating (at minimum)
Insurance (Sportscover Sports Package – Group Personal Accident Only Policy)

JERSEYS

Jerseys are not included in the pricing and can be borrowed from a previously rostered player or you can purchase one to keep at mySkate Proshop.
