Choose from a variety of school excursion ideas! From one-off ice skating visits to full terms of lessons with qualified coaches and everything in between, the ice rink is definitely a unique excursion destination for Perth schools!

From as little as $13 per person, including skate hire, an ice skating excursion is a healthy, inexpensive outing that gets the students up and about. One teacher per 10 students can skate for free!

Ice skating excursions for schools

ICE SKATING EXCURSIONS

An ice skating excursion is a unique and fun physical activity that will be entertaining and rewarding for students and teachers alike! Whether it is a one off end of term visit, or a weekly outing, there will be smiles all round as you are experiencing an activity that is out of the ordinary!

How long are the sessions?
Most schools tend to book for up to 2 hours. We don’t advise that students spend longer than 2 hours on the ice.

When can schools visit the arena?
Schools are welcome to skate any time between 10am and 3pm on weekdays. We can be flexible if other times are more suitable, and can accomodate weekend or night time bookings if required.

What should we bring?

  • Long pants are essential. Students aren’t permitted to skate in shorts.
  • Dress warmly and bring a thick pair of socks.
  • You may also want to bring gloves, a scarf, beanie or hat.
  • Helmets are available for loan, bring yours if you have one.

ICE SKATING ED-CURSIONS

If you are looking for an educational option for your school, why not consider one of our maths or science ed-cursions?

What is an ed-cursion?
An ed-cursion allows students to enjoy a day out at the arena, while also learning and putting into practise the subjects learned back in the classroom.

We are proud to offer ice skating related curriculum resources that directly align with The School Curriculum and Standards Authority, and are able to work with you to tailor your curriculum experience to your teaching style, specifications and outcome goals.

We can provide student worksheets and teacher’s notes for grades 1-6 in both Science and Mathematics.

What should we bring?

  • Students should bring their pencil case if worksheets are being filled out at the arena.
  • Dress warmly and bring a thick pair of socks.
  • You may also want to bring gloves, a scarf, beanie or hat.
  • Helmets are available for loan, bring yours if you have one.

Bibra Lake

SKATING & WETLANDS WILDLIFE EXCURSION

Come for a skate, have a bite to eat or a picnic lunch, and then learn about the flora and fauna in the spectacular Cockburn wetlands!

Make a day of it!
Visit us for a couple of hours of ice skating, have some lunch and then head down the road to Native ARC or the Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre and learn about the spectacular flora and fauna that call Bibra Lake home!

Native ARC excursions
Native ARC is a non profit Animal Rehabilitation Centre and provides a range of educational programs based around Society and Environment (humanities and social sciences) studies to primary and high schools with the sessions tailored for specific age groups. Check out Native ARC.

Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre excursions
The Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre is located amongst the beautiful surrounds of the Bibra Lake Reserve. It is surrounded by a diversity of bushland, wetlands and includes an amazing array of wildlife. The Centre programs provide a unique opportunity for students to connect and interact with nature. Dance studio

STUDIO CLASSES

We have a 150m² upstairs dance studio where we can offer your students ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, yoga, Pilates and stretch classes.

How long are the sessions?
A typical class time would be 45-60 minutes, however we are happy to accommodate classes for longer or shorter time periods.

Schools are welcome to use the studio any time between 9am and 3pm on weekdays.

What should we bring?

  • Loose fitting clothes and non marking shoes, preferably white soled.
  • Drink bottle.

School ice skating lessons

ICE SKATING AS A SCHOOL SPORT

Ice Skating classes can be run on a weekly basis and students can be graded on their level of achievement!

How many students to a class?
An ideal class size is around 10 students, but we can accomodate up to 20 per coach. Larger school groups can have their lessons staggered or request multiple coaches.

How long are the lessons?
Class times are 30 minutes, and students can practise for the remainder of the visit. As for session times, most schools tend to book for up to 2 hours. We recommend that 2 hours should be the maximum length of time spent on the ice.

What should we bring?

  • Dress warmly and bring a thick pair of socks.
  • You may also want to bring gloves, a scarf, beanie or hat.
  • Helmets are available for loan, bring yours if you have one.

Ice hockey for schools

ICE HOCKEY AS A SCHOOL SPORT

In these lessons, students will learn the basics of ice hockey, such as puck and stick handling. Mini games can be arranged for small groups of students on a cordoned off section of the ice.

How long are the sessions?
Most schools tend to book for up to 2 hours. We recommend that 2 hours should be the maximum length of time spent on the ice. Schools are welcome to skate any time between 10am and 3pm on weekdays.

What should we bring?

  • Dress warmly and bring a thick pair of socks.
  • You may also want to bring gloves, a scarf, beanie or hat.
  • Helmets are available for loan, bring yours if you have one.
  • Mouthguard.

Students are welcome to purchase from the Frostbite Cafe menu throughout their excursion, or we can tailor a food and beverage package from the items listed below.

Gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options are available for some items.
