Assumption of Risk
By entering the Arena, both skaters and spectators agree that they have knowledge of, and assume the inherent risk of ice skating which includes (but is not limited to) the following:
- Any injuries resulting from:
a) collision or contact with other skaters/individual on the ice.
b) falls.
c) contact with objects/artificial structures that are within the skater’s intended path of travel.
d) wet flooring. - Ice skating is NOT recommended for:
a) pregnant women.
b) children under the age of 3 years.
c) any person with a heart condition.
d) any person with an existing injury.
e) any person who is a first time skater (or not skated in many years), and who is over the age of 55 years. This is due to an increased risk of musculoskeletal injuries. If a person meets these conditions and still chooses to skate, they may be required to sign a release of liability waiver.
f) due to certain clauses in our insurance policy, people weighing over 120kgs and/or lacking a reasonable level of fitness may be advised not to skate due to an increased risk of injury. We highly recommend that you obtain appropriate medical advice prior to undertaking any form of ice skating if you are suffering weight issues as a result of a medical condition.
Ice skating is performed at the skater’s own risk. Ice skating can be dangerous and involves a significant degree of physical exertion and risk.
It is the skater’s responsibility to maintain reasonable control of their speed at all times whilst skating, and to skate within their own skill and ability limitations. Each customer is responsible for their own safety.
Cockburn Ice Arena is not responsible for any loss, death or injury that may occur.
In the unlikely event of an accident or injury, please present to staff to be assessed by a trained first aid officer.
Lockers are provided to secure your valuables, and staff cannot take any responsibility for items left unattended. Staff are unable to personally look after your belongings.
